Where to go to find Washington State’s biggest spenders

The Evergreen Freedom Foundation is hard at work compiling their list of the biggest spenders for the 2009 legislative session.
“Thanks to Initiative 960’s transparency provisions, the 2008 session was the first time taxpayers had the opportunity to know how much a new law would cost them before it passed. EFF used the cost projections from the Office of Financial Management to add the cost of each bill by sponsor and co-sponsor. We then ranked legislators from the highest to the lowest for their costly new legislation.”
I think it’s important to really publicize what our legislators in Olympia are doing. They seem to have enjoyed a certain degree of anonymity over the years but thanks to groups like EFF, maybe we can remind them that their actions are subject to public scrutiny.
