Democrat Senator Ken Jacobson wants to silence the voter

2009 Senate Joint Resolution 8202 (Relating to the constitutional provisions regarding initiatives and referendums)
“Introduced by Sen. Ken Jacobsen, (D-Seattle) (D) on January 14, 2009, proposes an amendment to the state Constitution to modify the powers of initiative and referendum.”
There is precious little information out there so far about whatspecifically would be modified but the bill is scheduled for a public hearing before the Senate Committee on Government Operations & Elections today [January 22]. Having a state Senator pushing for modifications to our right to put forth initiatives and referendums is worrisome. I can only suppose that a liberal Democrat from Seattle wants to put up roadblocks to more initiatives to limit car tab taxes, repeal fuel taxes or affirm our gun rights. I will confirm with more specific information as soon as it is available.
We know these big-spending libs hate seeing our silly little citizens’ initiatives on the ballot. They don’t appreciate it when the people paying the bills actually want to have a say in state government. How dare us common people usurp legislative authority! They can’t stand it when we attempt to limit either their power or the amount of money that they can confiscate from us! Who do we think we are?!
We’re the voters! And, we will write, we will call, we will e-mail!
