Orbusmax had this one up today.
This article comes to us courtesy of WorldNet Daily. Apparently the results aren’t really in line with the MSNBC agenda so they’re not making a big deal of it. I searched for it using the search box at the top of the MSNBC home page and didn’t find it. When I searched on Google (which, incidentally, significantly increased my carbon footprint) several blog posts came up first but I actually did find the MSNBC poll page. If you’d like to vote, click here.

From Townhall.com and Matt Lewis:
“Calling it his first ever address to the nation, Rush Limbaugh rocked the house at the Conservative Action Conference (CPAC) today.
From the time he entered the room to The Pretenders ‘My City Was Gone’ (his theme), to the time he exited the stage, Limbaugh inspired the over-flow, packed audience, and enjoyed countless standing ovations.”
I can’t wait to watch this online! It is linked up at Rush’s website and he’s posted the transcript as well. The twits at the Huffington Post are all abuzz about Rush “doubling down” on wanting Obama to fail–their words, not mine. In my opinion, if a speech by a Conservative gets those mental midgets all worked up, it was probably a great speech! [I’m not posting a link to their site. If you want to read that trash, you can find it yourself! Plus, I don’t want my comment box to be innundated by liberal fruitcakes because of an errant pingback.]
A quick excerpt:
“I want to tell you who conservatives are. We conservatives have not done a good enough job of just laying out basically who we are because we make the mistake of assuming people know. What they know is largely incorrect based on the way we are portrayed in pop culture, in the Drive-By Media, by the Democrat Party.
Let me tell you who we conservatives are: We love people. [Applause] When we look out over the United States of America, when we are anywhere, when we see a group of people, such as this or anywhere, we see Americans. We see human beings. We don’t see groups. We don’t see victims. We don’t see people we want to exploit. What we see — what we see is potential. We do not look out across the country and see the average American, the person that makes this country work. We do not see that person with contempt. We don’t think that person doesn’t have what it takes. We believe that person can be the best he or she wants to be if certain things are just removed from their path like onerous taxes, regulations and too much government. [Applause]
We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. [Applause] We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. [Applause] Liberty, Freedom. [Applause] And the pursuit of happiness. [Applause] Those of you watching at home may wonder why this is being applauded. We conservatives think all three are under assault. [Applause] Thank you. Thank you.”

I’ve been hearing joyful news-bites this morning about Eric Holder’s confirmation as the first African-American Attorney General. It reminded me of something good that happened on Friday that didn’t get much play in the MSM. Michael Steele was voted in as the new chair of the Republican National Committee. And yes, he is an African-American. That said, it is my opinion that the substance of a person is so much more important than style. Character, principles and the capacity to lead are the criteria by which we should choose our leaders, not race and general “coolness.”
Michael Steele possesses the qualifications and the vision to lead the GOP back to the top. He understands the importance of articulating a clear message of Conservatism. Check out the RNC website for his “Blueprint for Tomorrow.” That’s our guiding plan, guys. He stresses the importance of leading with integrity, clearly defining the difference between Republicans and Democrats and upgrading our strategies to compete in the modern political arena. I have to tell you, I’m optimistic about Michael Steele. I have every hope that he will be a leader for Conservatives, not just party hacks.

I’m experiencing that feeling of deja vu this morning. Yet another Obama appointee has tax issues! Wow! Let me predict what is going to be said about performance czarina Nancy Killefer’s tax problem. “It was an honest mistake.” Or perhaps, “She had a little glitch with her Turbo Tax.”
“Ms. Killefer, 55 years old, failed to pay employment taxes on household help for a year and a half, the Associated Press reported. In 2005, the AP said, the District of Columbia filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay the unemployment compensation tax. The error was resolved five months later.”
Oh…the old employment taxes on the household help. Well, we’ve all had that problem, right? I couldn’t find the box on the 1040 for that one, either.
As it turns out, though, silly excuses probably won’t be necessary. Nancy Killefer is withdrawing her candidacy, saying that she doesn’t want her tax problems to be a distraction for the new administration. There goes the only Obama appointee [so far] who possessed an ounce of shame. Tom? Tim? What about you guys?
Oh, and one more thing. How badly would the MSM be savaging tax-challenged appointees to a Republican administration?

Remember hearing Obama bashing lobbyists out on the campaign trail? He used to say that he didn’t take their money and would not provide them with positions in his administration. He used to accuse lobbyists of being part of the problem with how business works in Washington D.C. He even went so far as to publicly make a rule against lobbyists in his administration.
And now, the bait and switch has been done all over again. Notice the use of the word “forced.” The A.P. headline writer has made a subtle effort to absolve Obama of responsibility. What I have to wonder is this: how will this play with the Hope-n-changer’s? Will they even notice that Obama is now governing against his own campaign rhetoric?

“The prosecutor in the impeachment trial of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he’s proven ‘a pattern of abuse of power.’In his closing argument Thursday, prosecutor David Ellis said the evidence shows Blagojevich knew his conduct was improper.”
It looks like Blago’s goose is just about cooked. I do have to give Blago credit for believing in himself–he’s been off on a media blitz this week, all the while proclaiming his innocence. And this despite the tapes that the prosecutor has been playing for the jury. You know the tapes…the ones you’ve heard on the news that clearly feature him talking about seeking favors or money for the messiah’s Senate seat. Blago is either shamelessly dishonest or totally off his rocker. Or both.
Oh, and I do have to give the AP credit. They actually mentioned in this article that Blago is a Democrat. Oh, really? Hmm…I had no idea. Of course, if the story were about a corrupt Republican, they would have put the word, “Republican” in the headline and 15 times throughout the article also. Oh well. Progress is progress.

This comes to us courtesy of Dr. Mark Perry of Carpe Diem. If you haven’t looked at Carpe Diem yet, I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
I have to admit that the two editorials by Dick Morris did leave me gloomy. So, when I ran across this posting, I had to link to it. Here’s a quick quote:
“Well, why are Americans so gloomy, fearful and even panicked about the current economic slump?
In one of history’s most painful paradoxes, U.S. consumers seem suddenly disillusioned with the American Dream of rising prosperity even as capitalism and democracy have consigned the Soviet Union to history’s trash heap. Hard times are forcing some people to turn their back on the American Dream.”
The question is, which economic slump is this article about? I’m not going to spoil it for you–click on through to Professor Perry’s blog to find out.

Have you had it up to here [you can’t see this but my hand is approximately two feet above the top of my head] with the fawning, ridiculous coverage of Obama’s inauguration? Sounds like you need a little factual information and tongue-in-cheek cynicism from Ann this morning.
“So maybe liberals can stop acting as if the entire nation could at last come together in a “unity of purpose” if only conservatives would stop fomenting “conflict and discord” — as Obama suggested in his inaugural address. We’re not the ones who booed a departing president.”
Well said. The way some of those “tolerant” and “open-minded” libs behaved towards President Bush this week was an absolute disgrace.
“Liberals always have to play the victim, acting as if they merely want to bring the nation together in hope and unity in the face of petulant, stick-in-the-mud conservatives. Meanwhile, they are the ones booing, heckling and publicly fantasizing about the assassination of those who disagree with them on policy matters.”

Yay! A terrible downer of a speech that told us how awful life in America is. An incomprehensible poem of pure drivel. A blatantly racist benediction. And the MSM going on and on about what a great day it was. It’s going to be a long four years…

I hope tax problems plague Obama’s treasury pick! I know that scrutiny of “the chosen one” and his cabinet appointments is not the hip thing to do right now but seriously folks! Are we going to forget about the way that the Left in this country treated people appointed by Conservatives? Bork, Gonzales, Roberts, Alito, Thomas…do those names mean anything to you? We as Conservatives, not to mention the MSM, should be asking serious questions about Obama [although it’s a little late for that, agreed?!] and the people that he’s choosing for his cabinet.
“A Capitol Hill grilling is likely for Timothy Geithner, President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to head the Treasury Department, after public revelations he failed to pay $34,000 in taxes several years ago. Senate Democrats are pressing to schedule a quick confirmation hearing for Geithner on Friday, hoping to tee up swift approval of his nomination on Inauguration Day. But newly released information about the tax goofs by Geithner, regarded as a brilliant financial markets specialist well-positioned to deal with the nation’s considerable economic problems, could complicate the process.”
Oops. $34,000 in unpaid taxes. Just a little goof!

Rush is calling it the “Immaculate Inauguration.” Michelle Malkin calls it “Inaugur-A-Palooza.” I think the word “mania” has to apply somewhere to the shameless crap that the MSM is calling “inauguration coverage.” Michelle Malkin has linked to another blog [http://www.julescrittenden.com/] where there’s a complete compendium of the MSM’s fawning, obsequious, laudatory, self-congratulatory, worshipful,…[insert your favorite applicable adjective <here>] “objective coverage” of the Obamanauguration.

I didn’t watch this show but did see the promo for it the other day. ABC apparently is running some kind of a hidden camera show and they had a segment featuring an “American” couple in Paris. The promo showed them gasping that the Eiffel tower was almost just like that tower they have in Las Vegas [but not as big], wearing matching George Bush t-shirts and generally being noisy and offensive to the suave, sophisticated Europeans. When I read up on the show online, my suspicions were confirmed–this supposedly entertaining little segment was yet another George Bush smear from the main stream media. The Left is relentless–even with their chosen one in office, they are still hard at work bashing Conservatives, Republicans and George Bush.
“These actors went out of their way to be literally as obnoxious as possible. The ‘wife’ was ridiculously rambunctious at every turn, and the ‘husband’ began singing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ when their boat left its dock, and actually shouted ‘George Bush!’(why??) when posing for snapshots. Yeah, sure sounds like a ‘typical’ American to me.
The kicker of the segment was when the ‘couple’ stopped by a local café. After bewildering the other patrons with their ridiculous antics, commentator John Quiñones offers the kicker (on part 2 of the segment, at approx. -04:39 on the video):
QUIÑONES: Apparently not everyone’s amused by our couple’s t-shirts — or their politics. This woman is German.
GERMAN WOMAN: This is nearly as if I had a t-shirt: ‘I Like Hitler,’ you know?”
ABC’s not-so-subtle message: George Bush = Hitler.
ABC’s pathetically transparent agenda brings to mind something that Rush was talking about this week. He made the point that the Left owns the popular culture in America. Astute Conservatives may be highly attuned to spotting the biases in everything from commercials to news broadcasts but not everyone examines the world at large with a political magnifying glass. The casual media consumer is inundated with Left-wing bias. My question is, how do Conservatives counter it?

On the way home from the grocery store this afternoon, I heard a quick blip on the indictment of Baltimore mayor, Sheila Dixon. Because the newscaster did not mention a political party in connection with Dixon, I deduced that she must be a Democrat and made a mental note to check it out when I got home. Of course, my supposition was correct. Sheila Dixon is a Democrat and she has been indicted on 12 counts resulting from a corruption investigation. The radio station I was listening to carries ABC news but they weren’t the only ones leaving the word “Democrat” out of the broadcast. According to Newsbusters, CNN anchor Kyra Phillips failed to identify Dixon as a Democrat…inadvertently, I’m sure.

Here are links to three stories from today’s headlines on goskagit.com:
We’ve been experiencing a cultural shift in this area for some time and I predict have only just begun to feel the consequences. It is very un-politically correct to say this but the Skagit Valley has a major problem with crime in the Hispanic community and much of it is gang-related. Unfortunately, we are all in danger here, regardless of race, ethnicity or any other factor.
I also have to mention that I think it’s interesting that goskagit.com enables their comment feature on inane editorials about flooded creeks or lamentations over the shuttering of the WWU football program but not on real, hard news stories. Whenever they publish a story that could potentially be controversial, they don’t include the option for readers to comment. It begs the question, what is the point of having a comment function on your news website if you are afraid of what your readers will say?
