Gore hearing on warming may be put on ice

From the Drudge Report this morning:

“GORE HEARING ON WARMING MAY BE PUT ON ICE
Mon Jan 26 2009 17:59:26 ET

Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the ‘urgent need’ to combat global warming.

But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings.

A ‘Winter Storm Watch’ has been posted for the nation’s capitol and there is a potential for significant snow… sleet… or ice accumulations.

“I can’t imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside,” a Republican lawmaker emailed the DRUDGE REPORT. “And if the ice really piles up, it will not be safe to travel.”

A spokesman for Sen. John Kerry, who chairs the committee, was not immediately available to comment on contingency plans.

Global warming advocates have suggested this year’s wild winter spells are proof of climate change.

Developing…”

I don’t even know what to say.  Global warming is clearly a fraud.  We have major changes coming to our society and economy to combat a non-problem.  And on the day that Al Gore comes to Washington, it snows.

Will Washington’s economy withstand four more years of Gregoire “leadership”?

Wash unemployment rate jumps to 7.1 percent in Dec

“Washington’s unemployment rate jumped to 7.1 percent last month, the largest one month increase in more than three decades.”

Gregoire pushes cap-and-trade bill

“A cap would be placed on the amount of carbon dioxide emissions that companies release, and companies would be required to buy permits in order to emit at the acceptable level. Companies also could auction off their permits between each other, creating their own market system.”

Good thinking, Queen Christine!  Let’s make doing business in Washington State even more expensive.  All based on the flawed theory of man-made global warming.  Way to go.  Oh and isn’t it ironic that a “market system” would be great for auctioning these worthless carbon emission permits but the free market can’t be permitted to work in ways that would really help Washingtonians?  How about a free market for health insurance?

Holy Botox!

Be careful when you open this link!  The picture of Queen Christine is huge and it startled me for a second there!

Dems in control but not in sync as Legislature opens

I think I agree with the premise of this article–we have a lot of Democrat infighting on the way.  Queen Christine spent her first term expanding the scope of Washington State government, creating new programs and increasing funding to old ones.  There are a lot of favors owed to unions, environmentalists and Indian tribes after a contentious campaign but she’s also pledged not to raise taxes.  Something’s gotta give!

Oh, and my favorite quote from this article:

“‘Everybody’s puppy got squashed,’ said Rep. Hans Dunshee, D-Snohomish, chairman of the House Capital Budget Committee.”

The latest targets of the carbon police: Google, your big fat tv & Heathrow’s third runway

Revealed: the environmental impact of Google searches

“While millions of people tap into Google without considering the environment, a typical search generates about 7g of CO2 Boiling a kettle generates about 15g. ‘Google operates huge data centres around the world that consume a great deal of power,’ said Alex Wissner-Gross, a Harvard University physicist whose research on the environmental impact of computing is due out soon. ‘A Google search has a definite environmental impact.’”

I’m rapidly reconsidering the value of encouraging my child to get a university education.

Should we cease all progress on this Earth?  Would that make these lunatics happy?  Limit our growth, limit our prosperity, limit our enjoyment of life itself?

From the U.K. Telegraph: Global warming has been disproved

Posted by Liberty on December 29, 2008

2008 was the year man-made global warming was disproved

“Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.”

Christopher Booker points out three important facts about global warming: 1) Temperatures have not risen.  They have actually dropped and this was unforseen by the computer models.  2) There is not a consensus among scientists that global warming is taking place.  3) The world’s economy can not afford feel good “solutions” for a problem that does not even exist.

“Suddenly it has become rather less appealing that we should divert trillions of dollars, pounds and euros into the fantasy that we could reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 80 per cent. All those grandiose projects for ’emissions trading’, ‘carbon capture’, building tens of thousands more useless wind turbines, switching vast areas of farmland from producing food to ‘biofuels’, are being exposed as no more than enormously damaging and futile gestures, costing astronomic sums we no longer possess.”

Great article.  And simply stated enough that even libs should be able to understand it.
